Chapter 1

Getting Started

The AT-S47 Management Software and the management interface

simplify the task of monitoring and managing your Allied Telesyn

AT-WD1008 Wavelength Division Multiplexer. The interface, which

comes pre-installed on the AT-WDM02 Management Module along with

the AT-S47 software, enables you to manage the multiplexer through

easy-to-use menus or with command line interface (CLI) commands.

To actively manage a multiplexer, such as to change or adjust the

operating parameters, you must access the AT-S47 Management

Software on the AT-WDM02 Management Module. There are three

different ways to access the management software on an AT-WD1008

multiplexer. This guide refers to the access methods as management

sessions. The three types of management sessions are:

❑ Local Management Session

❑ Telnet Management Session

❑ SNMP Management Session

The following sections in this chapter briefly describe each type of

management session and how to start a management session.
