Chapter 2: Installing the Media Converter

2. Slide the GBIC transceiver into a GBIC slot on the converter, as

shown in Figure 11, until it clicks into place.

Note

The GBIC transceiver is dust sensitive. When a fiber optic cable is

not installed, or when you store the GBIC transceiver always keep

the plug in the optical bores. When you do remove the plug, keep it

for future use.

Note

Unnecessary removal and insertion of an GBIC can lead to

premature failure.
