PowerBlade PBC18 Quick Install Guide

Hot Swapping a PowerBlade Switch or Media Converter Module

To hot swap a PowerBlade module, perform the following procedure:

1. Remove the data cables from the failed module.

2. Loosen the thumbscrew and gently slide out the failed module.

3. Remove the new module from the shipping package and store the

packaging material in a safe location.

Caution

Wear a grounding device and observe electrostatic discharge precautions

when installing the PowerBlade module in the chassis. Failure to

observe this caution could result in damage to the PowerBlade module.

4. Slide the module gently into place, aligning it with the guiderail, until it

firmly connects to the chassis’ backplane. See Figure 14.

5. Secure the new module to the chassis by tightening the thumbscrew.

6. Repeat Step 5 through Step 7 in the previous procedure to complete the

installation.
